4/26/2008 Pictures of Blairsville's Night Before The Climb

The Blairsville Downtown Development Authority, Seasons Inn, and the Blairsville-Union Chamber of Commerce joined together to sponsor this event associated with the Tour de Georgia, of which Stage 6 started in Blairsville's Meeks Park.   We've captured pictures of the event here for you!  Click here for the pictures. 

1/20/2008 Meredith Emerson "Remember ME" walk

Union County was greatly moved by the tragic circumstances around Meredith Emerson's abduction from the Appalachian Trail off of Blood Mountain and her subsequent tragic loss of life.  The hiking community held a walk in her honor, originally intended for the same section of the Appalachian Trail that she had been on but moved due to number of participants, at Meeks Park in Blairsville.   Click here for the pictures of the walk, remembrance, and smudging ceremony.

The 9th annual Butternut Creek Festival showcased the best arts and crafts around from Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and a few from Florida.  These artisans assembled at Meeks Park for this free, fun event - offering both wares and demonstrations.   Click here for the pictures of the event.

There have been a number of observations and complaints about downtown Blairsville and what needs to happen to make it more friendly for citizens and visitors alike.  Now there's something you can do about it!  On Monday, June 12th, there will be a Downtown Revitalization Meeting to discuss this very thing and talk about realistic changes and how the participants can help take the priorities previously identified in an earlier session into reality.  Now's your chance to be heard and be part of the change process: Click here for information.
