Winter weather advisory in effect from 10 pm this evening to 10 am est Monday,

The NWS in peachtree city has issued a winter weather advisory, which is in effect from 10 pm this evening to 10 am est Monday.
A large area of moisture will work its way across the tennessee valley this evening and overnight. Very cold temperatures are already in place across north georgia. As precipitation begins, there will likely be a period of rain mixed with freezing rain before changing over to a light mixture of rain, sleet, and snow. Also, freezing drizzle may occur throughout the night. These different wintry precipitation types may combine to produce nuisance accumulations of ice or snow on elevated or exposed surfaces such as trees, vehicles, bridges and overpasses in an area along and north of a line from summerville, to jasper, to dawsonville, to cleveland. In addition, with temperatures below freezing, any precipitation that falls as rain will likely freeze on bridges and overpasses, making travel difficult.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

This is another take on what is coming....

BY NIGHTFALL TEMPERATURES ACROSS EXTREME NORTH GEORGIA WILL BE IN
THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S. AS THE DEVELOPING SHORT WAVE TO OUR
WEST MOVES ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY TONIGHT...PRECIPITATION WILL
DEVELOP...MAINLY ACROSS ALABAMA AND TENNESSEE WITH THE TAIL END OF
IT SWEEPING ACROSS EXTREME NORTH GEORGIA. THE PRECIPITATION WILL
BEGIN AFTER 10 PM IN THE FORM OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN...LIGHT SLEET
AND LIGHT SNOW...THEN SWITCH TO EITHER ALL LIGHT SLEET OR LIGHT SNOW
AFTER MIDNIGHT. ACCUMULATIONS OF LESS THAN AN INCH ARE
POSSIBLE...HOWEVER THIS WILL BE ENOUGH TO MAKE ROADS AND BRIDGES
SLICK. THE MAIN AREA OF CONCERN WILL BE NORTH OF A LINE FROM
SUMMERVILLE...TO DAHLONEGA...TO CLEVELAND...AND BETWEEN THE HOURS OF
10 PM TONIGHT AND 6 AM MONDAY MORNING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF LIGHT SNOW OR LIGHT SLEET ACROSS EXTREME NORTH
GEORGIA MONDAY MORNING. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PERIOD...HAZARDOUS
WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED.

I was on the line this am with my hubby, who was on the other line with the 911 center trying to see if they could get a DOT truck up there to salt the road. There were 2 signs knocked down,(one by a cop car) cars slidding everywhere. All I could hear was, 'oh!There goes someone else into a sign, there's another guy who just slid off, yeah, he's okay"...!!! What a mess up, but it sure is pretty up there.

I don't guess that you will have school tomorrow.

In reading the weather advisories, I noticed that they come out of Peachtree City, GA. That is the hometown of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup rookie, 20 year old Reed Sorenson.
