I love the land here. There is a nonprofit group that will come out to your land and catalog all the native plants you have, so you can protect them better. I would do that. That's how much I love the land. Wildflower |

OMG! That breaks my heart. My Dad owned property out that way for years and I hiked daily with my dog on some of those dirt roads. Man that hurts to see! Gotta go wipe my eyes.Until we change the way money works - we change nothing. |

Gray, I was afraid someone was going to ask me that. Our Towns County newspaper did a story on a group that is willing to perform this service for free, in the name of saving native plants. Wouldn't you know it, I used that paper for trapping some more feral cats (to line the traps). Our newspaper does not have an online version at all. I get so frustrated when I see valuable information in the paper, because I either have to save it or forget it. I have enough paper floating around this house and I wish I could access the paper online. If I can remember, I'll call them and ask for the name of the group they did the story on. It was written within the last couple of weeks, so they should remember.

Okay, Gray, here it is:http://www.gmrec.uga.edu/commcouncil/preserve.html If you scroll down, you will see the heading: Appalachian Native Botanical Sanctuary Certification Program They certify your property as a preserve. You don't need a lot of land, just a swath that is left natural. The article also included two names and phone numbers: Claire Johnston - 706-745-2655 Jennifer Cordier - 706-745-9317 That's pretty much all I know about it. Wildflower |
