Snow Advisory in effect

Winter weather advisory is cancelled. Snow advisory in effect from 8 am Monday to midnight est monday night,
The NWS in peachtree city has issued a snow advisory, which is in effect from 8 am Monday to midnight est monday night.
A strong upper level disturbance will move from the midwest toward georgia late tonight and Monday bringing precipitation to the region. With a canadian air mass in place, the precipitation will begin as snow shortly after daybreak Monday and continue throughout much of the day. The heaviest snow will likely occur during the afternoon. Temperatures will be near or just below freezing in the morning, slowly rising to the mid or upper 30s by late afternoon. There is a possibility that the precipitation may mix with rain late in the day.
Snow accumulations of up to two inches will be possible during the day Monday across the northeast georgia mountain counties, especially northeast of a line from blue ridge, to ellijay, to dahlonega, to cleveland. Because of recent warm temperatures, snow accumulations will be largely on grassy surfaces, bridges, and overpasses. However, elevations above 2500 feet may see some accumulation on roadways.
A snow advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

It's lightly flurrying here, but by the school it was pretty stormy.

Looks like I live in a strange part of Blairsville, I rarely get the rain and snow ya'll do.

It's pretty coming down and I'm fine with it not sticking.

I skidded down the street a few weeks ago and I NEVER want to do that again, it was scary.

342 PM EST WED FEB 8 2006

...A LIGHT WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTH
GEORGIA TONIGHT...

A WEAK UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL SWEEP ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA TONIGHT
WITH A CHANCE OF SOME LIGHT RAIN MIXING WITH LIGHT SNOW. MOISTURE
IS VERY LIMITED WITH THIS SYSTEM AND ANY PRECIPITATION SHOULD BE
SPOTTY AND LIGHT...CONFINED TO THE AREA GENERALLY NORTH OF A LINE
FROM ATLANTA TO ATHENS. NO SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED...BUT SOME AREAS IN NORTH GEORGIA MAY SEE A DUSTING OF
SNOW ON GRASSY AREAS...CARS AND BRIDGES. THE CHANCE OF
PRECIPITATION SHOULD END BY SUNRISE THURSDAY.

ALTHOUGH ONLY LIGHT PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED...MOTORISTS SHOULD
BE ALERT FOR SLICK SPOTS ON ROADS...ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND
OVERPASSES. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT AFTER MIDNIGHT
THROUGH THE MORNING COMMUTE AS TEMPERATURES FALL TOWARD FREEZING.

UPDATE

Winter Weather Advisory for Union County
9:58 pm (1 minute ago)

Issued at: 9:55 PM EST 2/8/06, expires at: 6:00 AM EST 2/9/06

Winter weather advisory in effect until 7 am est Thursday.
The NWS in peachtree city has issued a winter weather advisory, which is in effect until 7 am est thursday.
The advisory is for areas along and north of a line from lafayette to ellijay to clayton. At elevations mainly above 1000 feet, snow or a mix of snow, sleet, and rain can be expected. Accumulations should be one inch or less, mostly on grassy areas, cars, and some bridges and secondary roads. The chance of precipitation should end by sunrise Thursday.
Although only light precipitation is expected, motorists should be alert for slick spots on roads, especially on bridges and overpasses. This will be especially important after midnight through the morning commute as temperatures fall toward freezing.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
