Although not hit as bad as some communities (believe it or not) Blairsville has still suffered a lot of pain because of the Great Recession. I noticed yesterday that you could find this story almost anywhere in the world except in the State of Georgia. Back in 2006, the newly elected Georgia General Assembly paid six attorneys to re-write our laws having to do with consumer credit, real estate, foreclosures and evictions. Within two months after the new laws went into effect, Georgia's real estate market began collapsing because of a glut of foreclosed homes. Those six attorneys simultaneously started what was to become the nation's largest foreclosure and eviction firm. It has earned over a $billion income from foreclosed middle class homes Read this story and weep. It is also all over the internet. http://www.examiner.com/architecture-design-in-national/the-dirty-little-secrets-of-today-s-forclosure-crisis I lift up my eyes toward the mountains. |

Didn't this happen under Sonny Perdue's rule? The name McCalla sounds familier, he may be the principal of a large debt collection company that went out of business last year after hearings.Speaking of ole Sonny, isn't he a witness in the great vote buying scheme and racketeering trial just starting in Alabama? Lot of "hillbilly" stars caught up in this down home fiasco also. Ain't America Great? Shucks
