Adm> if this is the wrong topic area please feel free to change.Did anyone see the interviews last week on "Dateline" concerning the big secret that church clergy does not want their parishioners or church members to know? It was not shocking, the only shock was there are so many with similar beliefs. The gist of the program is what a very large numbers on ministers, from mega churches to small rural churches now believe and are becoming very vocal about it. I am not going to go into detail as what was said because it would cause a firestorm in the forum. Just thought I would bring it up to see how many people watched the interview. Shucks Shucks |

I watched part of the program. I thought it was more "ho-hum" than shocking. So, some ministers/preachers have lost their belief in God and/or no longer believe that everything in the bible is "true" and now they just don't know what to do with their lives. I didn't find their angst either entertaining or informing and turned the channel.

OK< the cat's out of the bag. Fawn's post was the Reader's Digest version and is the reason I did not want to post. The 2 ministers interviewd, one pastor of a medium sized non denominational church and the other Sr. Pastor of a large mega baptist church. Both stated the secret is that hundreds or maybe thousands of preachers either lost their belief in God or never had it in the first place. The feeling is that being a minister is really"just a job", and in reality is the truth. Preachers leave a church for 2 basic reasons. One they were fired or resigned just before being fired or left for more money. Just like in the secular world so it is just a job. I am not taking sides, just stating what a lot of preachers now believe and what millions of people believe. I hope that my statements are not viewed as being negative(as they have in the past). I am not a negative person, just one who looks at the reality of things. Shucks |
