I knew other counties or areas had the health departments reporting on restaurants' health inspection scores but I just now learned that the scores for Blairsville area restaurants are being posted online now. What a great use of the Internet to keep the public informed about our area restaurants!

Here's the link:

are they only inspected yearly? not much of a chance to rebound. if we were all graded by a once a year snap shot of our work would that be fair. can these restaurants ask or pay for another inspection if they score low? i don't feel comfortable eating at a place with a score less then perfect score seeing that it's possible at county run facilities. perhaps the safest place to eat is in jail. i wonder if the county gives the county a heads up? the system seem unfair to me.

Great information Mr. Bill, thanks for sharing! However, some of this information is incorrect/out of date. All restaurants are required to post their inspection and score in a conspicuous place. If you are not sure about a restaurant, ask them for their score.

Great link & info! Does anyone else find it odd that all of the county entities garner a %100 with the exception of the jail which got %99 (frankly if it was a rat infested mess I could care less about that one!). Anyway I think theres a case of favoritism going on for sure!Go to Top of Page

Perhaps, but my wife used to work in the middle school cafeteria and got a chance to float to the high school cafeteria as well and she learned from direct experience how much emphasis they put on meeting all the health department guidelines. It's a very particular obsession they have with it. I believe Kathy McAfee (Nutrition Program Director) is responsible for both the obsession and the resulting scores.
