Ready, Fire! Aim! -- Getting out of the boat and putting faith in action...What do you think would be a good Connect Project?

Our church community has connect cards with the church logo on it. I've been handing them out to people, but lately I've been thinking about giving something else. I've been surfing on intentional Christianity, intentional church, and eventually stumbled on servant evangelism:

There are numerous low-cost opportunities in our community right now where you can begin to show God's love in practical ways. God's Spirit is already at work and He is inviting you to join Him right now. So let's get out there and show some love! And while you are at it, give the people you serve the opportunity to connect with you by putting a connect card in their hand when you serve them. Here are some ideas Ė click on the links, below. Get out there for an hour and give people something for free with no strings attached.

Prayer for the Church.

Teach us to walk in the way of Christ.

How do you feel about what you just experienced?

It was our sorrow that weighed Him was our weakness he carried.

Isaiah 53 (New Living Translation)

Isaiah 53

1 Who has believed our message?
To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?
2 My servant grew up in the Lordís presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.
3 He was despised and rejectedó
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.

 4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,
      crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left Godís paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
      the sins of us all.

7 He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet he never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.
 8 Unjustly condemned,
      he was led away.[b]
No one cared that he died without descendants,
that his life was cut short in midstream.[c]
   But he was struck down
for the rebellion of my people.
9 He had done no wrong
      and had never deceived anyone.
   But he was buried like a criminal;
he was put in a rich manís grave.

10 But it was the Lordís good plan to crush him
      and cause him grief.
Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,
      he will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life,
and the Lordís good plan will prosper in his hands.
11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
      he will be satisfied.
   And because of his experience,
my righteous servant will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous,
for he will bear all their sins.
12 I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier,
because he exposed himself to death.
He was counted among the rebels.
He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels

I started a message board at

I know it is summer, and who wants to be on a board when you can be outside, but....

I started the board for Fellowship of The Hills (FOTH), but all are welcome and perhaps you can meet with us at FOTH. We are not a church that is in competition with the other 80 plus churches of Union County, but if you have tried all the other flavors and not found one you like, try ours. It is a come as you are church and if you are looking for a community of Jesus followers, come and gather with us. The music is contempory, we like it loud, you are allowed to bring other Bibles besides the King James, and we don't care how you dress. Hey, if you play an instrument or sing, we need your help.

What I want to do is get comments from the community on how we can ALL, as a church community, serve the community better. I would like for it to be a message board where we can discuss real life questions. So, hang out at life groups for a while and help us engage the community in conversation. If you join the board, let me know what categories and boards you would like to add. So, no matter what flavor of Christianity you are a part of, it is all one body of Jesus Christ. All are welcome, especially skeptics, athiest, humanist, non-Christians, and even Christians.
