I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I really need your help.

My mother lives in Blairsville and is currently seeking a new doctor. She is in her early 60s and has type II diabetes so someone who is experienced with folks in her situation would be good. I am very worried about her and want to make sure that she ends up in capable hands. Her current physician just does not cut it.

I figured you guys might have some good recommendations for her to try. You can e-mail me names so you don't have to post.

Thank You!

47 views and no response. I am guessing that this means there are no good docs in B-ville?

I very much like DR. Gervase (sp?). He is from NY. Spent many years in a large population area but is young enough to still be at the top of his game. Not knocking any local doctors, but I feel good about him working in a large metro area recently. He is in Morganton, GA.

We love Mary Beth Wiles also.  Never had a doctor spend so much time with me.  She doesn't miss a thing and asks questions no other doctor in Atlanta area asked me.  Sometimes you have to wait a long time but she worth it.

It is not a good policy to recommend doctors. Personally, I don't care for Dr. Wiles, and for good reason. One person's doctor is another person's poison.

If you have diabetes you definately need to see an endo. Dr. Efird is a surgeon. He doesn't specialize in family practice. Just surgery and also specializes in breast problems. I am partial to Dr. Don Pruit in Suches.(706) 747-1421 He helped me and hubby when everyone here couldn't find what was going on. If it's over his head. Then he sends you to the upmost care place for the problem. My husband was being treated for exhaustion and depression when in reality he was a walking time bomb for a heart attack. Dr. Pruit saved his life at the young age of 31. Hubby's father had his first heart attack at the age of 39. Factor IV Lidien deficiency. Clotting disorder. Peachy has a cousin of the blood disorder (MTHFR)to the inherited disorder. She took shots every day of her pregnancy so she wouldn't sling a clot and bust her heart.

Dr. Wiles does have someone who specializes in diabetes in with her. I do not know anything about the doctor. Just have heard she has someone with her.

If you want to stay local.

I agree that Pruitt is good, I just don't like the drive to get there! I also agree that Dr. Wiles is not someone I would refer anyone to.

We go to Dr. Michelle Thompson, I copied this from their website:

Dr. Michele Thompson specializes in Family Practice. She graduated from Mercer University with a major in Chemistry and German. She obtained her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and did her Family Practice residency at MAHEC Residency program in Asheville, NC. She has a particular interest in dermatologic procedures and will offer such procedures as wart removal, biopsies, and joint injections to our practice.

I think that a family physician is a personal choice and that you should meet or "interview" a few to see who suits you best!!

I have a close friends who's mother is deceased now because of a mis-diagnosis of her heart from one of these dr's. I wouldn't use her at all. Too many big mistakes that could have been caught before it was too late.

Thanks guys.

I am formulating a list of docs for her to check out and visit, maybe she will click with one of them. She needs to get a good doc to take care of her. It has been very tough to watch her health decline so rapidly in the last year.

I realize that it is tough to recommend docs. I have found that in small towns, there are usually a few that shine and people really like. That is what I was looking for.

It is hard to take care of parents over a distance. I am glad that you guys came through with some recommendations. I really appreciate it!

Spam - could you e-mail me? I have a couple of questions about Dr. Gervasi. brio.gal at gmail dot com

Sonny saw Dr.Gervasi several times when we were up there. I liked his manner, his thoroughness and his professionalism.

Dr.Andre Schoeffler has been my doctor for five years. That says a ,lot for him.to tolerate me for so long.I was forced to dismiss three others. He works with Dr. Saunders.I believe he is just as knowledgeable as any other doctor in this area. What is important to me is that he is a very good listener. He is more interested in his patients than just as a money source.Dr. Wiles was my wife's dr.She had digestive problems. Dr.Wiles ,after a few months couldn't find what was causing the condition.I diagnosed the problem and found her another doctor ,Dr. Schoeffler.Dr.Wiles is a very good person.WRJ
