Still don't know what is going on with Pro-Tech. Are they going out of business? Are they laying off some people? Or what?
Not everyone who reads this forum is living up there. Good grief, even someone who does live up there doesn't know what is going on with Pro-Tech (Shucks, for instance).

Everywhere I turn here lately, someone is losing their jobs here in Blairsville and it's getting scarey. 4 people were laid off at Hubby's place. And I heard they wanted 5 more gone. No demand. Plenty of supply. A lady I work with, husband lost his job last week. They are possibly seeking another state due to the "lack of" here in Blairsville. He was "over qualified" for many jobs. We just found out during Thanksgiving, there will not be a Christmas Bonus this year with Hubby's company. They did not give out the turkey or ham this year either. So, if you have a job. Appreciate it! Regardless of what it is. I live in my own little world; But that's ok, they all know me here. |

Times are getting harder for a lot of people. My business is off more than 60% from this time last year. Insurance companies are cutting back and are not ordering many consultant inspections as in the past. I am one of the lucky one's I guess, I still get enough work to keep busy. I am extremely fortunate that I don not have to depend on this to live. I feel for the people being laid off and plants closing. I see it every week as I travel through the south. I do not know the answer, maybe the oil problem, maybe the mortgage business, however the stock market is good. NOTE: Now is the time to buy UCB stock. It can be bought online for as low as $15.00 a share. The banks going to take a big hit, but the stock will rebound and you can make a tidy profit. If it keeps going down, look for a "hostile" takeover attempt by a bigger bank. Shucks |

The company I work for, who in the past as always given a GENEROUS Christmas bonus, is not giving them this year either!!! It's sad, alot of the people here really depended on this bonus for buying Christmas for their families. Times are getting tough for sure. My field is medical so there is always a need and we don't have the lay-offs like other companies around here, but they are indeed cutting back!

I'm in medical too. Problem right now with medical is people don't have the money to pay their bills. Even with insurance. High deductibles, etc. That plays a part in working for Dr's normally. I don't know how the office I work for does Christmas, I haven't asked and to be honest; I believe we ALL have decided that this year we are going to "truely" celebrate the reason. Yes we will have gifts but not to the abundance of what we normally do. My mom has already given my kids their Christmas money. But getting back to the economy....It's hard times in the neighborhood right now. Literally! I live in my own little world; But that's ok, they all know me here. |
