I hate the fact that we have lost so many parking spots on the square. It's hard to find a place to park at noon at the Hole in the Wall without driving around in circles wasting precious fuel. I'm sure Marks business has been hurt by this. The lots on both sides are full as well. Anyone else agree with me?

Yes, BR I know what you mean. It is hard to find a parking space at certain times of the day and when special events are going on.

One of the problems with towns with "squares" is parking. Union's square is called a "Washington type square" and it does not lend itself to much parking. A lot of communities are plagued with this problem.
With the new downton plan there will be less "on the square" parking. The upside is it will be more pedestrian friendly for people to walk around with seating.

Shucks
I agree it will be pedestrian friendly for the people who might be staying in nearby hotels, but for the working folks looking for a place to eat or to run those errands-well we still have to park someplace. Sure, we could avoid the Square and eat somewhere else every day, but I refuse to do that because we have some great businesses there and some very nice owners who have invested so much...Anyone remember the Seinfield episode about the rickshaw (sp) service? Or maybe the carriage with Rusty the horse?
