More than anything else, I had someone ask me what the price of lots are up there. Actually, he wanted to know the cost per acre. Are there any Realtors who can give me an estimate. Hanging of the side of a mountain is NOT desired.

Gray, it all depends on the variables. There is a 103 acre tract that is going for $24,000 an acre but there is a 1.85 lot that we just paid $150,000 for (amenities). It depends on road frontage, access, location, septic, view and the desirablity of the land. An acre is not always the same as the acre next to it.

We paid $77,000 for a lot (1.5 acre) about 2 years ago with a very good view. We considered it a bargain because of the view. I hope land will start going down a little, there is so much on the market.

we have talked so much about our land that our neighbor across the street is going to look at ours next week to see if he wants to purchase a lot near us.    and , no, he is not a native Floridian.  he is from a farm in Texas.  i think he is really going to miss hubby.  they are good friends and always helping each other out.  i hope we find neighbors like that where we will be.    no, he isn't the one with the peacock.   no one wants to claim that animal

Thanks, Nelly. I don't think he is looking for 103 acres. I do believe he is looking for a nice lot with water, electric, telephone, etc already there. I know he isn't looking for something that costs $150K either.

Guess my question is much to broad, but I know know how to narrow it down for him at this time.

We are thinking about buying a lot that adjoins our property because we don't want any neighbors that close. What would ya'll do? Would you refinance and get it put on your mortgage or what? This opportunity just has popped up unexpectedly but we really want it to keep our privacy. My husband is determined to have it if he has to sell all his guns, four wheeler, boat, camper etc.. to get it. lol

Personally, I'd go for it Puddin!  Better than having something you want, then someone or things you don't want or have control over.

I would go for it too. You can now finance land thru the bank. that is what we always do and we put 20% down. It is nice not to have people right on top of you.

We rode around Fox lake on new year's day. Nothing was going on there, even the bushes in front were dead. Land prices have to start coming down. I am glad we did not buy anything to start a spec house yet!

We just came back from The Arbor. Nothing is going on there except one house. They are going to give away a new corvette when they sell 10 lots. I wonder how much those lots are. I picked up info, but no prices on anything.

IT'S NOT GOOD. I am glad development has stalled badly but I feel for those that depended on the development for their paychecks. Times are going to get rough here for many and it is shaping up to be worse than I had expected.
