SAT NOV 11 2006

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH AND
CENTRAL GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON.

.SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MOVE NORTHEAST INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION
TODAY...WITH A SHORTWAVE TROUGH EXTENDING TOWARD THE MISSISSIPPI
VALLEY. AN AREA OF SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK
NORTHEAST ALONG THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY. THE COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED
WITH THIS LOW PRESSURE WILL CROSS GEORGIA DURING THE DAY TODAY.

.PRIMARY HAZARDS...
THE PRIMARY HAZARD WITH ANY THUNDERSTORM THAT DEVELOPS WILL BE
GUSTY WINDS...MAINLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM LA GRANGE TO MACON TO
LOUISVILLE. SMALL HAIL MAY ALSO BE POSSIBLE IN EXTREME NORTH
GEORGIA DUE TO SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES ALOFT.

.DISCUSSION...
AS THE COLD FRONT APPROACHES...DEWPOINTS WILL INCREASE INTO THE
50S AND PERHAPS 60S TODAY...ALLOWING A NARROW REGION OF LIMITED
INSTABILITY TO SET UP AHEAD OF THE FRONT. CAPES WILL REMAIN BELOW
1000 TODAY AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET ABOVE 500...WITH LIFTED
INDICES RANGING FROM 0 TO MINUS 2. HOWEVER...ESPECIALLY IN NORTH
GEORGIA...THERE MAY BE ENOUGH VERTICAL WIND SHEAR TO ALLOW A
COUPLE OF STRONG STORMS TO DEVELOP. GUSTY WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN
HAZARD IN ANY STORM THAT DEVELOPS...HOWEVER WITH VERY COLD
TEMPERATURES ALOFT DIPPING INTO TENNESSEE...SOME SMALL HAIL MIGHT
BE POSSIBLE IF A STRONG STORM OR TWO HAPPENS TO DEVELOP IN EXTREME
NORTHERN GEORGIA.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ON WEDNESDAY. OTHERWISE...NO
HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED.
