I would like to see a local farmer's market put in. I would love to have a place to buy fresh vegetables and handmade crafts items to sell.Several small towns even have a parking lot where people set up on Saturdays to sell their produce and products. It would be a great way to support the local farmers and people. I wonder what you would have to do to get somthing like this set up, any ideas?? I couldnt agree more. We so need a place like this, even of its only a weekends thing. Ive thought about holding one in my parking lot, but folks would have to park on the square as my lot isnt big enough for stands and parking. So how about this, anyone want to rent a spot in my lot on weekends for $7? See, now we have a farmers market in Blairsville. LOL! All we need are vendors now. Edited by - spam4einstein on 10/23/2006 12:21:17 PM |

I think this is a really good idea but I wouldn't want it to be too flea markety. Why can't I get a little ahead instead of a bigger behind? |

Blairsville folks could do what Murphy and other little towns do on Saturday morning. People sell knitted items, honey, jams, jellies, homemade cakes and pies, eggs and fresh veggies from little tables they bring and set them up on the sidewalk. I love farmer's markets. I'm sure there is an area that wouldn't charge vendors. Talk to people who are on the downtown revitalization committee for starters.

I have sold homemade soap and honey at the Murphy one. It's really nice and free.I agree no flea market type stuff but homegrown veggies and handcrafted items. spam4einstein I am not sure where you are on the square but it would be a great idea. Also, noone used the new courthouse parking lot on the wekends. After all as tax payers it belongs to us :) "Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music." Thanks Einey, might be something we can work on next year. It's seems to be a little cold now. But I believe alot of people would be interested as long as it didn't turn into a flea market.I am sure we could get a couple of local businesses to verbally back it.
