I read the article in NGN the commissioner's announcement about the new building to be constructed adjacent to the golf course and the new road. I hope the design is more in tune with Unions mountain heritage, not one of those ugly, tacky metal box buildings.

This new building is a positive step and the commissioneer is to be lauded for his efforts. Hopefully, a new civic center will follow and Union can rid itself of the current civic center.

You know you can get the NGN for free just by buying one of those yellow boxes for a couple of dollars, right? Then you'd be able to see the PICTURE that accompanied the article and showed an artist's rendition of the proposed building.

This is the artist's rendering of the conceptual building - the key word her is CONCEPTUAL.

It sounds and looks like they have the right spirit in mind for this building. It does state that there are no funds yet, and funding will impact what the building will be. It is up to the community to stay involved when the time comes to cut corners and save money (it will come to that). A building that fits into the area and gives a nice sense of place is possible without a huge budget.

Never mind, I went and got last week's paper. The building looks like it is going to be nice.
