NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
556 AM EDT TUE APR 25 2006

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS EXPECTED ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON
AND TONIGHT.

.SYNOPSIS...
WEAKENING HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE AREA WILL FLATTEN TODAY AS A SERIES
OF DISTURBANCES BEGIN MOVING EAST OUT OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. AS A
RESULT...A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY ACROSS KENTUCKY AND VIRGINIA
WILL BEGIN TO MOVE SOUTHWARD TOWARD NORTH GEORGIA TONIGHT.

.PRIMARY HAZARDS...
THE PRIMARY HAZARDS FROM ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS WILL BE LARGE
HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS...AND FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTING
STRIKES. THE BEST CHANCE FOR ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS WILL BE THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT FOR AREAS NORTH OF A CARROLLTON TO ATHENS LINE.

.DISCUSSION...
THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SEVERE STORMS ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA FOR LATE
THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. THE MAIN CONCERN WILL BE STRENGTHENING
LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING FRONTAL BOUNDARY
DURING PRIME AFTERNOON HEATING COMBINED WITH INCREASING LOW LEVEL
MOISTURE. AT THE SAME TIME INCREASING VERTICAL WIND SHEAR PROFILES
AND POSSIBLE LARGE SCALE ASCENT FROM UPPER DISTURBANCES COULD RESULT
IN A FEW SEVERE STORMS. THE BEST INSTABILITY INDICES MOVE IN ACROSS
NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON WITH CAPES NEAR 2000 AND LIFTED INDICES
IN THE MINUS 3 TO MINUS 4 RANGE. STORMS SHOULD MAINLY DEVELOP NORTH
OF THE STATE THIS AFTERNOON AND PUSH SOUTHEASTWARD INTO NORTH GA
ALONG ANY OUTFLOW BOUNDARIES.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY
THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY.
OTHERWISE NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
