NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
520 PM EDT THU APR 6 2006

...SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY MORNING...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT OF THE PLAINS STATES OVERNIGHT
TONIGHT. AS IT MOVES TOWARD THE TENNESSEE VALLEY ON FRIDAY...A
POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENT MAY DEVELOP FRIDAY
AFTERNOON AND EVENING...LASTING INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT...STRONG SOUTHERLY
WINDS WILL ALLOW WARM...MOIST AIR TO MOVE INTO THE REGION. THIS
WARM...UNSTABLE AIR WILL COMBINE WITH STRONG WINDS AND WIND SHEAR
ALOFT TO CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LATE IN THE
DAY. WITH THE WIND PROFILES THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE...SOME OF THE
STORMS MAY BECOME SUPERCELLS...CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL...STRONG
DAMAGING WINDS...AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. SUPERCELLS WILL BE MOST
LIKELY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS. LATER IN THE
EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS...THE STORMS WILL LIKELY MERGE
INTO A LINE OF STRONG CONVECTION. IN ADDITION TO THE THREATS
MENTIONED...THIS LINE WILL HAVE TO BE WATCHED CLOSELY FOR THE
POSSIBILITY OF FLASH FLOODING.

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER IN PARTS OF NORTHWEST
GEORGIA FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. THERE IS A
MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER FROM ROUGHLY LAGRANGE...TO
MCDONOUGH...TO COMMERCE. FURTHER SOUTHEAST INTO PARTS OF CENTRAL
GEORGIA...THE THREAT DECREASES...BUT CERTAINLY CANNOT BE RULED
OUT.

THIS MAY BECOME A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR PORTIONS OF
NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER OUTLOOKS AND
FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REGARDING THE
POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
