A homeowner's small controlled burn got out of control today and there's currently about an acre of woods on fire there, with a structure threatened by it.

The Georgia Forestry Commission stated that March is a bad month for wildfires, often because insufficient preparation is done around the area to be burned first.

An article they released at the beginning of the month on this is available at: http://www.theweekly.com/news/2006/March/07/fire_safety.html

That's awful Shadow. I sure hope they got it contained. They are having lots of fires down near my parents now.
Reminder to the smokers out there: don't throw your butts out the window!

My neighbors that come up every once in a while with about 10 kids let their fire get out and they got a ticket today. For some reason these people build a fire in their yard every time they come.
