Interestingly, I had someone from this site send an email to my company saying I was using company resources to post to this site. Fortunalty, I work for a great organization that realized that I don't spend all day doing non-work activities.

I thought you worked from home.
It never ceases to amaze me the actions some folks will take to try and stir up T-R-O-U-B-L-E...

Dirt,

I would respectfully request that you not put words in my mouth. I was talking about Shadow, not you.

Personal emails on company time. Sure everyone does it. And nobody cares. However, pornographic emails on the school's computer system? What do you think would happen to a student if they pulled up a porno site in the computer lab?

My mind isn't made up about the whole issue, but that's not the point. You're free to defend porn, and say everybody does it, or using company resources for personal use is okay because everybody does it, or say that Ed Rohrbaugh should be nominated for national principal of the year because he goes to the sports games and looks like he cares or anything else if you wish. All I've been trying to do the whole time is get you to see why, even if you don't agree with them, some parents have a right to be upset.
Losing battle...

wranger,

Please forgive me. I thought you were talking to me. My bad! I respect your opinion also about parents being upset. I understand. What boils my blood is what has caused them to be upset. It is the intention of the group behind this witch hunt to manipulate everyone's emotions and they have been successful at doing so with some but I for one will be glad to see this whole matter put to rest. I think we are just beating a dead horse. Maybe the events at the board meeting will give everyone the opportunity to speak their peace and we can get on to more important issues.

As far as what would happen to a student in this same situation. I asked my high school student and they told me it has happened before... in fact it is not uncommon and the amazing thing is that somehow the school has a built in alert system to let them know when someone does this. Anyway, the offenders usually get a couple of days of some kind of suspension in the school where they are allowed to do their work in another classroom only seperated from the rest of the students. Now, that is amazing to me that they can tell when that happens. I'm not computer savvy so it doesn't take much to impress me. However, if this is true... the principal received a much harsher punishment than a student would have for the same offense. Just some food for thought......

WILL SOMEONE LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AT THE BOARD MEETING????Go to Top of Page

Yep, Wranger...I'm the one that made the inference that the current negative reaction was comparable to Islamic extremists.

I did so because it appears that only resolution left to appease the critics is termination (like those Muslims who will only accept death as the only suitable response to their being offended - even over a cartoon). He was punished by the school administration for the offense. But that isn't good enough it seems. At least Blue doesn't seem to think so. Dirt pointed out that it was harsher than a student would have received. I had felt the same. In any event, the wrath about the severity of the punishment should be directed at the one (or ones) that doled out the punishment, not the one that received it.

It's too bad he's damaged goods now. He was doing good things up at the high school. Regardless of whatever happens at this meeting, I think it's likely that his tenure here is going to be shortened considerably.

P.S. If we demand only perfect leaders, all we'll get are those leaders that have figured out how to cover their tracks the best.

Shadow, I hate that his tenure in fact is at stake. One of the saddest parts of that is, he is a good person!

Another is, whoever is in next, will be most likely be picked to death as well.

I am hoping to get to go to the meeting but am not sure if I will make it. I have been told again that unless you are on the agenda you will not be able to speak and the last word I had.... only one name was mentioned as to being on the agenda. From what I have heard at the schools when I volunteered there, there is a block put on quite a bit of websites that might possibly be deemed inappropriate. I find it difficult for the board to make any changes due to the fact that a good bit of the ones making the decisions have made some bad choices in their past. Again...the proverbial phrase....Cast the first stone.Go to Top of Page

Well, I just decided to attend that board meeting myself and I must commend the teachers and all those who work at the school system for the professional way in which they supported their principal. There was a tremendous show of support. Mr. Rohrbaugh should be proud.

For the other side... I cannot say the same. I watched as a group of them placed themselves around where the principal was sitting in an effort to intimidate him and his wife. Throughout the proceedings they used body language and great gasps to call attention to themselves and create a scene.

At the end... a reporter from Channel 2 news makes an appearance and you could see the look of satisfaction on their faces as they felt their moment of fame was finally here. Their whole group was all fighting for the microphone in hopes of seeing themselves on the nightly news. Maybe that is what this is all about. There was the usual ones that are always in the middle of conflict in this county. I could give you three guesses and the first two would not count and I am sure you could figure out who they are. I bet the town where they moved from before they came here let out a HUGE sigh of relief when they passed the county line heading out of town! One guy stood up and said that he was there on behalf of the seven hundred and some odd students and I would just like to say to him that he was NOT representing my child and many others who have nothing but respect for their principal!!!

Anyway, it was just a bunch of hoopla and I commend the Board members for their composure and for the professional way in which they handled the proceedings, especially Mr. Akins. He is a fine man.Go to Top of Page

I am missing the story being on channel 2's website and apparently missed the news tonite. They too must think it is small potatoes not to have it on the headlines or even on their headlines list as of yet.

Sorry M4M.... I assumed it was a given. They did vote unanimously to rehire all the administration for the schools for another year. This included Mr. Rohrbaugh! The people on the agenda was allowed to speak but there was no open forum at the end.Go to Top of Page

Well, I saw the news and I read what has been said on this site. I can only say this, had this incident happened in another town, I don't think Mr. R's contract would have been renewed. If this man is setting an example for our youth, I don't want him. Whoever this Francis is on this web site (obviously a man) needs to get a life. I think also that if we had a woman on the school board, this would not have gone so easily for Mr. R. (Yes, he admitted that he did send the emails) (after he got caught) But did he have a choice when every teacher in the school knew he did, as well as some bright person notifying the papers and churches. Well, election is coming up in a few years and this is the time to replace that board with someone (not in the clique).

Well I dont know a Francis myself... but Ill take that as you are talking to me being I do have ST.FRANCIS OF ASSISI QUOTED..

In that case, let me advise you of a alternative that my friend chose to do last year and no her son is NOT in high school. Woody Gap is considered Union County. If you do not like the principal, TRY THAT SCHOOL. You may find that there arent many students there and very few to point a finger at or throw a stone.. and of course, you may run out of places to send your child other than the christian academy and Id be glad to get you the phone number to there too! Have a blessed day and once again, KUDOS to the board!

Well here's a shocker—there was a big meeting, a lot of citizens were upset, the powers that be grudgingly listened and did what they wanted to anyway. "A predetermined outcome" —sound familiar? Only in Union County. The Good Ol Boy Club is alive and well. Really didn't expect anything different but I was hoping since our children were concerned that the Club might see reason. This sort of behavior only reinforces people's opinions of this area as "backwoods." It's such a shame, I love this county and it has so much to offer, but the power structure often makes us look bad.

P.S. After all my big talk I must confess that I didn't make it to the meeting, the roads were too slick going in to town, and apathy won out. Thank you to those who went and reported it, and for the Channel 2 story link. I suppose I am now the poster child for why things will never change.
Also for the record—My daughter is painfully modest and active in her church group. She is also an A student who has never been in trouble at school.

Blue, I am in no way tryin to make arch rivals here by no means because I am grown up and understand that even me and my husband do not agree on this one either.

I dont understand why people wanna be so mad about the GOOD OLE BOY system when its been here forever and a day and to be quite honest with you, its NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING compared to what it once was. They have either died out in one way or another so why in this world do you chose to live in a county that you feel so betrayed by and feel no sence of being comfortable? If you are local, you know this as well.. if you are not, I am and Im here to tell you that it IS NOT as BAD as it once was and thats the ONLY thing I have to say about people moving in here, DO YOU NOT CHECK OUT THE PLACES YOU WANT TO LIVE? I know Jonesboro, I know Rex Ga. I know Albany Georgia cause of family living in those areas and I can tell yall this much, we HAVE THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH RIGHT HERE! We could have school shootings all the time and gangs killing people. WE DONT HAVE THAT, WE HAD A EMAIL PASSED AROUND. YES IT WAS A WELL ENDOWED BREAST COLLECTION.. I WENT TO HAVE MY BREAST LOOKED AT FOR AUGMENTATION DUE TO A HEALTH ISSUE.. I SAW THE SAME THING THERE... BREAST!

did you really?! I just want mine looked at before I need a forklift! LOL
Sorry. I know this is a very touchey subject here.

He did wrong. He apologized, he got in trouble. (without pay too) That can hurt some people more than you know. It's over.
I'm more pissed at Mr. Stephens for calling school out today more than boobs being passed around through an email. But, here's my take on it..
I'm on the fence with this because one, it's degrading to women talking about their big boobs & two, he sent these to other people. I find that just sick. I don't mind jokes, but nude photos? Is it like smoking weed & it will lead to more dangerous drugs? Could sending out nude photos to people lead to him running his own porno studio? I don't think so. It's not that extreme.
Let's move on to more drama in Blairsville. What's next?
