The former Watercrest Restaurant at Fieldstone Resort is going to reopen in two months as "Old Hiawassee Grill" and the menu will be updated to be more "family friendly", with lower prices, and some vegetarian dishes. They are keeping Sunday Brunch. The theme is going to be historic Hiawassee with old pictures of Hiawassee pre-lake days.

The Yacht Club is going to be divided in half - half will be a bar for adults only, and other other side will be family dining. They are going to update the menu, but keep the favorites.

The Fieldstone Resort is being remodeled all through - guest rooms and everything. They are putting a Coffee Shop in the lobby with coffee drinks and fresh pastries.

The boat area will have improved capabilities also.

You should see all the trucks at Fieldstone now, from morning to night!!

Git er done!

Well that is exciting news, too bad I purchased a coupon to Fieldstones and have not used it yet, it was costly, sure hope the new restraunt honors it.

The yacht club seems too small to me to divide, it's always packed as it is, where are they fitting a wall? Seems like it will be a very tight squeeze.

I hope the people at Monets miss me as much as I miss them. I should be there in about an hour.

Enjoy it Coosa, they have prime rib on Friday and I wish I would be here for that, but we are going to SC.

I am sure Gary will have that, he loves prime rib. Did you give up on Tennessee?

How to add to the Yacht Club? I have no idea.

However, they recently added an alcove by opening up the east-facing wall. That gave them 2 more tables. I suppose they could expand in that direction.

By the way, our pet name for the Yacht Club is the "Pontoon Saloon".

Well, I hope the fine dining remains in some aspect. That was my favorite place to go for birthday, etc. (Watercrest)

MAC, seems all the places for fine dining are turning into family dining and I am all for family dining cause I have 4 kids but I agree with you that we need to keep some fine dining places in the area. They are few considering the family dining world.

There is one that I cant remember the name of it on 441 right before you get to Ace hardware on the right, its more in Dillard I think but its called the Cupboard Cafe and I highly recommend you and your lady try it sometime if youre over that way. Its very elegant! :)

Maddy,

We go to the Yacht Club once in a while. It's been a few weeks since our last visit, however, it's very close to where we live.

The only changes to the Yacht Club, so far, is that they've added more large-screen TVs. According to the newspaper, they were put in there in time for Super Bowl. They plan to play up the "sports bar" aspect.

As for the "Pontoon Saloon", we heard that from a native who is an attorney in Blairsville. We adopted the name on the spot.

Middle,

I know exactly how you feel.

For fine dining, I suggest:

"THE CHEF'S TABLE" in Hiawassee

There is also going to be a new restaurant called "CAFE ON THE SQUARE" in Hayesville opening soon. Web site: http://www.hayesvillesquare.com/pages/2/index.htm

Also, "THE COLE HOUSE" in Andrews. Web site: www.Colehouse.org

All those should keep you busy!

It probably got that name bacause a lot of people keep their pontoon boats there, especially in the winter. My SIL has their boat there now. Now that her husband is dead, I wonder if she will keep it?

MAC, did you come to the village to eat with the motorcycle club? We use to see them there a lot on tuesday nights. The Village is the restaurant (now closed) next to the police station. It is being repainted and cleaned up now.

Joyful,

I think "Pontoon Saloon" is a way of cutting the "Yacht Club" down to size, since there aren't too many yachts in the lake.

It's an endearment.

Well, we are the couple who sat out on the porch in the corner every night. We had our own reserved table every night. Joan does not take reservations, sad to say.

We have a red 33 ford victoria and a red corvette, so whatever we drive, it is red. Joan and Dave bought the old Village restaurant and are remodling it. They own Monets and have for years. They just change the name ever so often.

coosa, saw you at the village several times, didn't know you at the time as I had not been on the forum long. Remember the cars and the reserved sign. I miss going to the Village also, but I do like Monets too. I like most food except fast food, rather eat a pack of crackers and have a coke than eat fast food. One of these days I will introduce myself.

That is great, Why. I don't much care for fast food myself, except an occasional wendy's hamburger. I am now at Monets every night.
