How in the world did Union County end up with a Sole Commissioner? This in my view is not healthy local government. To put control in the hands of just one person is asking for trouble. I'm not saying that Lamar hasn't done good at his position but it's just scary for one person to be making very important decisions regarding what our tax rate is, how the money is spent and who fills various positions within the county. Why can't we have several districts in Union County with an elected person from each so that we can have representation and decision making from more than one person? Even if there were just 3 commissioners would bring about more diversity. Looking back many years ago when the county population was small I can understand why there would be one sole commissioner but we have grown considerably and there are so many good folks out there who would make for great leadership and decision making. Does this make any sense?

God bless this great country!
